- Investment: advising on the acquisition and disposal of single and multi-let investment properties including offices, shopping centres, department stores, retail and industrial parks, and hotels and other leisure investments and advising on the acquisition and disposal of property portfolios and sale and leaseback transactions
- Strategic land: advising landowners on all aspects of the promotion (alone and with others) and disposal of strategic land
- Landlord and tenant: advising both landlords and tenants on the letting and acquisition of property across all sectors and dealing with asset management matters
Experience
- Managed all the legal and commercial aspects on behalf of Howard De Walden Estates Ltd, in the acquisition of the north eastern block of Harley Street valued at approx. £40m from the Crown Estate that completed the client’s ownership of the whole medical enclave
- Acted as lead lawyer for a consortium of 4 landowners over a 9-year period in the highly complex process of land promotion for a substantial ‘edge of market town’ development of approx. 2400 residential units including ancillary schools, country park, leisure facilities and by-pass, and acting on the successful negotiation and sale of the land with planning permission to a leading national house builder
- Acted for the landowner of two large strategic sites on a complex development and promotion agreement with a consortium of 3 developers
- Acted as lead and relationship partner for Lidl (UK) Properties, when it launched in the UK, and leading the team which successfully opened over 100 newly built stores within the following 3 years
- Lead on a range of investment and development activities for client, Scottish Life (later Royal London), including a portfolio sale of 40 properties valued at in excess of £250m
- Managed the leaseback elements on a portfolio of approx. 25 ‘crown jewel’ properties comprised in a sale and leaseback which raised over £750m for a major clearing bank
